Join us in welcoming CSPM’s new Board Members—Melissa Bernal and Amy Kohout!
Melissa Bernal ⋅ Director of Business Development at Westpeak Mobility
As a native of Colorado Springs, Melissa loves her city. She started volunteering on the Marketing Committee in 2021 to continue sharing with others about the unique stories of our area. Melissa has an extensive background in marketing from her roles at Chick-fil-a and Westpeak Mobility. She always brings fresh ideas, energy and excitement in spreading the word about the Museum and our offerings. We are excited for her to further her engagement at the CSPM by joining the Board.
Amy Kohout ⋅ Associate Professor, Associate Chair of EV Studies & Sci. Program
Amy Kohout joined the History department at Colorado College in 2016. She works on U.S. cultural and environmental history, and her research and teaching interests include the U.S. West, American empire, the Civil War and Reconstruction, museum studies, the history of natural history, and the craft of writing history. Amy has had a longstanding connection with the museum. In 2023, she presented as part of the CSPM’s Lecture Series: On the Road regarding her book Taking the Field: Soldiers, Nature, and Empire on American Frontiers. She also currently coordinates a summer fellowship program for Colorado College History majors in collaboration with the CSPM. Her knowledge, connections and scholarship will bring interesting insight to the CSPM Board and the Exhibits and Programs Committee.
