October is Arts Month in the Pikes Peak region, and the CSPM is proud to share several arts-related stories in COS@150: Exploring Colorado Springs’ Story Through Objects exhibit. To highlight the work of the acclaimed Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival, CSPM visitors can watch the 1992 Academy Award-winning Mona Lisa Descending a Staircase in our gallery. In addition to the film, our exhibit highlights the unique history of this organization.
In 1987, Jere E. Martin and Donna Guthrie had a bold idea on the long drive home. The two had attended the Telluride Film Festival and were inspired to, “expose Colorado Springs to films by women or about women.” Over three decades later, the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival “…elevates the stories of women and others who are often unheard or unseen, cultivating a more empathetic and connected community.”Â
Now in its 36th year, the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival takes place October 20-22 on the Colorado College campus, with a virtual encore October 26-29. For more information on tickets, events, and programs please visit their website:  https://rmwfilm.org/ .Â
