July Volunteer of the Month: Admin Volunteers - CSPM

July Volunteer of the Month: Admin Volunteers

Diane Stine, Development Director

There are so many volunteer positions at the Museum ranging from collections to education. However, there are not many opportunities on the administrative side of the Museum. In March 2023, the CSPM Development Department recruited our first administrative volunteers to support the team in preparing for the HVAC renovation. Volunteers Paige Little, Patty Jacklin, and Kitty West enthusiastically signed up for this new volunteer role.  One of their tasks was inventorying the gift store. All of them inventoried the entire gift store, which included over 1,000 books.  We cannot thank enough for the hard work of this incredible team!

We were excited to offer these types of volunteer opportunities and to receive such a great response. In a short time, Paige, Patty, and Kitty expanded our efforts to complete these necessary tasks in preparation for the HVAC renovation. We really appreciate their support!

“Thank you to our hardworking and dedicated volunteers! Our admin/development team couldn’t have completed multiple organizing and data projects without them! Their time with us has been truly appreciated and I just can’t say thank you enough.”

Paige Little

Paige began volunteering at the Museum to round out her medical school applications. She has worked with several different departments including Museum Store, School Programs, and Administration.

“I enjoyed greatly enjoyed the CSPM in my youth. Now, I continue to volunteer at the Museum as a way to foster community in the Colorado Springs area and teach a new generation of history lovers about the history of the Pikes Peak region. “

She also spends her time volunteering at Garden of the Gods and St. Francis Hospital. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking, going to concerts, and spending time with family.

Patty Jacklin

Patty Jacklin previously joined the Volunteer Corp as a Museum Store volunteer. In March 2023, she joined as an Admin Volunteer team.

“I volunteer at CSPM because I love museums and the history lessons they offer. I particularly enjoyed the tuberculosis display at the CPSM as I am retired Respiratory Therapist.” Patty enjoys spending time with her grandkids, hiking, skiing, traveling and just enjoying retirement.

Kitty West

Kitty West joined as an administrative volunteer in March 2023 because she wanted to work with an organization that preserves our history.

“I am proud to support a museum that uses exhibits and entertaining activities to share the story of Colorado Springs with the Pikes Peak region. I thoroughly enjoy reading about Julie and Spencer Penrose and Alice Bemis Taylor. Their generosity helps make Colorado Springs that Colorado Springs is today.” Kitty and her husband live in Black Forest and spend their time rehabilitating their property after being damaged by the fire. She and her husband also take care of their pets Newt, Jake and Lester.

Without our volunteers, we would be history! The CSPM relies on volunteers and interns to support our mission to build a lasting connection to the Pikes Peak region by preserving and sharing our cultural history. We are currently recruiting front desk volunteers.
